Cambridge City FC Development Centre

1st Step Sports are proud to announce the formation of our football development centre.  We are working closely in association with Cambridge City F.C and are now known as Cambridge City F.C Development Centre.

1st Step Sports have formed this link with Cambridge City to grow and enhance the club’s community links and reputation and also to give young footballers in the Cambridge and surrounding areas a platform to develop within a professionally run development centre.

Our aim is to improve every player’s ability, technique; mental and physical attributes so they will continue to develop, grow and learn under our guidance. Each of our players is individually assessed at three points throughout the season, at the start, midway and end, both on fitness and strengths and areas to improve on. This will help develop all or some of the attributes mentioned above and assist with progressing all of our players’ footballing career.

We play matches throughout the season against professional clubs such as Ipswich Town, Norwich and MK Dons to name just a few, and strive to arrange as many games as possible giving our players a chance to play against some of the best professional development centres. This helps to improve each individual by playing against stronger teams and giving an indication of what standard is required. All this extra training and match play also helps to improve the standard at a colt’s level as well as on a professional level. This development centre will in no way restrict or prevent players competing at their colts’ teams.

Training is held on a UEFA standard 3^rd generation pitch at Netherhall Sports Centre, Queen Edith’s Way, Cambridge. The venue is brand new and is an excellent facility, with viewing areas for parents to watch from.
